US Congresswoman of Hawaii Bought Ethereum (ETH) And Litecoin (LTC) Last Year
As part of the new Financial Disclosure Report that all politicians from the Congress had to participate this year, it was discovered that the US Representative Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii bought Litecoin (LTC) and Ethereum (ETH) late last year.
The Financial Disclosure Report stated that the politicians had to disclosure whether they had bought digital coins, too, this year, along with their more traditional financial assets.
Tulsi Gabbard filed her report on August 14 and it revealed that she bought more than $1,000 USD in Ethereum and Litecoin last December, when the prices were high. While it was not disclosed how much she bought, the value was between $1,001 and $15,000 USD each for any of the two assets, which were filed under the “Assets and Unearned Income” category of the system.
Both LTC and ETH appeared on the “Transactions” category. She bought the tokens on December 12. At the time, Ethereum was trading between a high of $659 and a low of $526 USD and Litecoin was between a high of $339 and a low of $230 USD in that day. Today, ETH is worth roughly $278 USD and LTC, $55 USD today.
It was also disclosed that the congresswoman did not make any capital gains greater than $200 USD in each token she bought. As the prices have dropped a lot since then, it was possible that she actually lost money investing at the time.
Robert Goodlatte Also Invested In Cryptos
Gabbard now joins the Virginia Representative Robert Goodlatte as the latest crypto owner in the US Congress. In a similar way to her, he also bought Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash and Ethereum. He spent between $1,001 and $15,000 USD in ETH and BCH and more than $15,000 USD in BTC.
At the moment, neither Goodlatte or Gabbard talked to the media about their cryptocurrency holdings.
