VeChain (VET), DNV GL And Norway In A Box To Provide China Blockchain Food Importing Solutions
VeChain (VET) Partners With DNV GL And Norway In A Box To Provide Blockchain Solutions To Food Imports In China
VeChain announced a strategic partnership with DNV GL and Norway in a Box to build a trustless platform to verify high-quality products shipped to China from Norway and other Northern Europe countries.
The announcement made on Medium earlier in the week confirmed the three companies will assist high-quality products such as seafood, home furnishings, supplements reach the Chinese market safely. Blockchain technology provided by VeChain is trustless and decentralized providing a transparent way for consumers to view the journey of the seafood from the sea to their plate.
The current imports of foods entering the Chinese market are facing safety concerns which provide a huge challenge to the industry. The validation, verification and safety procedures during the processing of the foods is usually a complex affair even in the current digital age. The solution to the problem is provided by blockchain technologies through a trustless, transparent, secure and immutable platform. The platform will offer a traceable path on the processing of the food products with the data collection confirmed by third parties.
DNVL GL released the My Story™ app that allows blockchain entries and collects data securely to provide an oracle for the blockchain. My Story™ further will provide the platform for the three companies in the partnership to start off the verification of the Norwegian salmon and other types of seafood. The app will record the movement of the fish from when it was caught until the packaging was complete. With this data recorded and verified on the blockchain the consumers have a trustless platform to confirm the verification process.
Once shipped to China, Norway in a Box has created an online shopping platform where consumers can purchase the seafood. Other shipments will be made directly to restaurants. The platform, My Story™, and Norway in a Box are working towards new features and functions for the future. The company specializes in selling fresh food and providing their consumers with the best safety standards and providing white glove service. The company is based in Norway and all its produce is caught, produced, packed and transported from the country.
VeChain THOR To Integrate The My Story™ App
The VeChain and DNV GL’s goals point towards offering the consumers with a transparent and trustless platform to check the journey of the product. Consumers can use the VeChain THOR Blockchain powered platform to scan the code and reveal all the information on the processing of the food products. Given the unique ID on each product, the consumers can easily check the verification.
The partnership between DNV GL and VeChain allows brands to share the life of their products, allowing consumers to see a product’s origination and lifecycle transparently.
VeChain Blockchain will offer a permanent and immutable record for all the product’s data recorded on the blockchain. The platform’s data cannot be changed once recorded which means the verification and validation of the products remain forever for future reference. The data recorded includes product quality, authenticity, origin, workers’ rights, animal welfare, and ecological footprint.
Notwithstanding, the platform will audit the validators and the data capturing process by checking activities, processes and the information output of the product. The food import industry is suffering from the trust with the current systems hence the development of this system by DNV GL, Norway in a Box and VeChain.
