Visio Platform: Distributed Content DCAP Blockchain & Wallets?
The Visio Platform is a distributed content aggregation platform, or DCAP, built on the blockchain. Find out how it works today in our review.
What is the Visio Platform?
Visio, found online at VisioPlatform.com, helps content creators distribute their work to a global audience. The Visio platform will allow content creators to distribute their work while also allowing content consumers to pay for work they appreciate.
Transactions on Visio take place using Visio tokens.
The platform plans to host a wide variety of content, including film, music, documents, photos, and more.
As a post on Medium announcing the project explains, “we want to make the experience of finding what you want as easy as search, click and load for everyone.”
Overall, Visio aims to be the world’s first fully decentralized content aggregation platform. It’s a “DCAP”, or a distributed content aggregation platform.
How Does the Visio Platform Work?
The Visio Platform plans to accomplish the following core features, including:
- Immunity to actions of ISPs and external authorities through the use of decentralized applications
- Peer-to-peer streaming with zero need for a centralized content server
- User-directed aggregation, including all movies and subtitles
- An incentivized bounty scheme using the Visio token
- User-led moderation with no centralized moderation authority
- File storage and hosting mechanism that allows for a low barrier to entry for content addition (compared to initial seeding and uploading of torrents or setting up IPFS nodes that we see in toady’s systems)
Overall, Visio is a distributed content management system, or CMS, where databases are mirrored using data stored in a blockchain. Visio uses IPFS as its data storage system. The team chose IPFS because it’s open source and developed continuously, eliminating the need for development. They also chose it because it’s a state-of-the-art distributed data storage system ideal for the needs of a decentralized content management system like Visio.
Visio will index, search, and filter data on its network in various ways within the IPFS network. The network can migrate because it is not bound by IP addresses.
Visio Features
Visio offers the following core features and functions:
User Profiles:
Instead of usernames, Visio will use “Visio Addresses”. Each address will have an unhackable and unchangeable history. There will be two types of user profiles, including anonymous or a public identity. Users are free to choose which profile they wish to use.
User Management:
Visio’s user management is based on the users’ ranks and “karma”. Rank calculation is based on the duration of time the user has been in the system as well as the user’s addition and creation of content.
Karma:
Visio’s karma system is related to how other community members rate the user’s activity – either positively or negatively. High karma means the user enjoys a good reputation, and that the user is popular and has contributed to the Visio ecosystem.
Multiple Roles in User Groups:
User groups can assign multiple roles on Visio, including no name, standard users, moderators, and admins or devs.
Deleting Content:
The Visio platform does not host any content, which means Visio cannot delete anything on its own. However, a moderator from the community can flag content as undesirable, which means the CMS will stop displaying that content.
Nodes and Masternodes:
Basic nodes will be able to search and add content. The condition for a user to become a node is null – it’s sufficient to download and install the wallet.
Advertising System:
The advertising system will be managed at the node level. Users can publish their own advertising over their content.
Vaults:
Users can save and pin files from their own server or PC through the Visio “vault” system, which includes vault nodes.
API:
Third parties can use Visio content using APIs. Content will be made accessible via public nodes.
Payments:
Visio will charge fees for certain transactions, including bounties, payments, ads, and more.
Visio Tokens:
The Visio ecosystem revolves around the use of Visio tokens.
Visio Token Tech Specs
Visio tokens have the following tech specs:
- PoS Supply: Infinite with 1% inflation
- PoW Rewards: 4 Visio per block until the 250,000th block
- PoS: 1 Visio per block
- Initial Supply: 62 million
- Block Time: 1 minute
- Algorithm: X13
Of the total supply of Visio tokens, 50 million were reserved for the ICO, 10 million for the dev fund, and 2 million for bounties.
As of February 2018, one VISIO token is worth about $0.02 USD, with a market cap of around $1 million, putting VISIO in the #731 position on the list of cryptocurrencies by market cap.
Visio Platform Conclusion
Overall, Visio is a distributed content aggregation platform, or DCAP, that seeks to create a better content management system on the blockchain. The platform uses IPFS for file storage.
