Vitalik Buterin Believes Microsoft Welcomed Ethereum Blockchain Developer Community Gracefully

Last week, Microsoft decided to launch its Azure Blockchain Service. This new tool will be used in order to help developers and companies to create, manage and deploy blockchain networks properly. This is also part of a larger effort started by Microsoft in order to provide a platform as a service for its clients.

Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, has recently reunited with the Azure Blockchain team in order to amplify the adoption of this technology in the world. Nadella talked about how Starbucks wants to use the blockchain tech in order to track coffee from its partners around the world to the coffee shop.

In this case, he affirmed, the value of the blockchain was linked to the ability to be an immutable ledger that could record the information of the supply chain.

Xiaomi, the largest smartphone manufacturer of Japan, was also highlighted in the conference. They were using the technology of Microsoft in order to track their own products on the blockchain, too.

The CTO of Azure, Mark Russinovich, has affirmed that the customers of the three companies used the Azure Blockchain to do it, which shows how far the technology has come until now.

Vitalik Buterin Talks About Azure

During the presentation of the conference, Vitalik Buterin appeared. The co-founder of the Ethereum blockchain joined Microsoft in order to talk more about the platform. According to him, Microsoft has embraced the open community of the blockchain technology and tried its best to create a new wave of decentralized apps using the blockchain.

Azure has also partnered with JP Morgan Chase to use the Quorum technology. The Quorum technology is considerably more focused on offering an enterprise version of the blockchain for more institutional clients, as it is focused on governance. By using this technology, the customers will be able to control their private networks with their businesses.

With more flexibility to deploy nodes and to make their own choices, they will be able to offer better services for their clients. According to Microsoft, they obviously prefer nodes deployed on their own tech, but people can also use a hybrid cloud environment to do it.

By deploying Azure and Quorum together, the company can be able to make up to 8,000 transactions per second.

Another subject of the conference was the Confidential Consortium Framework. Also known as CCF, the technology was created by Microsoft in order to use Trusted Execution Environments and to improve the latency of the transactions as well. This way, the company would be able to remotely access attestable enclaves that would generate encrypted quoted for the network.

This project is set to work in a pretty similar way to Hyperledger Sawtooth, another kind of private blockchain that you can find in the market right now. It offers proof of elapsed time, a unique consensus algorithm and also TEE technology.
