Winklevoss-Owned Custodial and Exchange, Gemini, Partners With Samsung’s Blockchain Wallet

U.S. regulated cryptocurrency exchange, Gemini, becomes the first U.S based exchange and custodial to partner with Samsung’s Blockchain. The partnership, announced a few hours before New York’s market opened on Thursday adds a new gateway for North America based customers to buy, sell and trade crypto directly on their smartphones.

After Tron Foundation’s partnership with Samsung, the Gemini crypto exchange becomes the latest big-name crypto firm to enter into a partnership with the tech industry giant. The partnership enables users from the U.S. and Canada with the Samsung Blockchain Wallet to connect onto the Gemini app.

Samsung's blockchain wallet is built directly into the Galaxy phones, S10 and S20 Series as well as the Z Flip devices. Giving mobile users direct access to storing their cryptocurrencies. Recent research suggests that Samsung pulls in 18% of the overall smartphone market share. Samsung recently announced a new EAL 6+ SE chip for their mobile phones, giving them enhanced security and protection for crypto transactions.

Gemini’s official site states that the app allows users to “buy and sell crypto, view their Gemini account balances, and also transfer their crypto into cold storage with Gemini Custody”. This aims at making the user interaction with cryptocurrencies easier and more efficient. The one downside to the news is that it will not work for Verizon Wireless customers at this time.

In a taunt to the recent statements by Goldman Sachs on Bitcoin, Tyler Winklevoss, CEO of Gemini tweeted on the latest partnership saying,

“We're not waiting around for Goldman Sachs and Wall Street to get crypto. We're going straight to you.”

Gemini exchange, known for its highly regulation-compliant nature, recently was added to JP Morgan’s customer base alongside Coinbase to support its customers in fiat transactions.
