Bitcoin will soon be coming into your nearest theaters.
This will become a reality thanks to Winklevoss twins who are helping adapt the book “Bitcoin Billionaires: A True Story of Genius, Betrayal, and Redemption” into a movie.
Winklevoss Twins have teamed up with Stampede Ventures’ Greg Silverman to produce the feature film adaption of Bitcoin Billionaires, the bestselling non-fiction by Ben Mezrich. The book has been translated into 12 languages.
New York Times bestselling author Mezrich also wrote 2009 bestseller “The Accidental Billionaires” which was the basis for the Academy Award-winning film The Social Network.
Bitcoin Billionaires is the story of two brothers’ “redemption and revenge in the wake of their epic legal battle with Facebook,” who later come to know about bitcoin in Ibiza and became the first bitcoin billionaires during the bull run of 2017. They also launched the bitcoin exchange Gemini.
“It was clear… that Cameron and Tyler’s remarkable redemption story, coupled with Ben’s masterful writing, would lend itself to a one of a kind movie,” Silverman said.
“This is Rocky II meets Wall Street in a world filled with unique and mesmerizing characters. This is going to make an incredible film.”
Stampede’s lead investor is a former Facebook CFO Gideon Yu.
Mezrich understood the promise of cryptocurrency fast, shared the Winklevoss brother. The author has also written, “Bringing Down The House” which was also turned into the movie 21.
“Whether you are a longtime HODLer or have just arrived, we think you will enjoy the colorful, frontier days of the cryptocurrency revolution that Ben Mezrich has deftly captured in Bitcoin Billionaires,” said the brothers.
They are looking forward to sharing this story and “bringing the early days of (bitcoin) revolution” to the theaters.
