The English football team, Wolverhampton Wanderers, or Wolves, as their supporters call it, has recently signed a partnership with the cryptocurrency exchange CoinDeal to display its logo on the sleeves of the players’ shirts during the games. The partnership also requires that the symbol of the exchange will appear on LED screens around the stadium when the team is playing home.
According to the CEO of Van Hawke Sports, Sunny Singh, the sponsorship is not surprising as the Wolves’ owners ONSUN already have investments in the blockchain field, most notably with the Onchain company. He also affirmed that it won’t be long before other crypto brands decide to use football team as a way to raise their brand awareness.
Also, he has stated that it will not be long before player transfers will start to be made using cryptocurrencies, as they are getting increasingly common nowadays.
Wolverhampton Wanderers FC is a very old club which was created in 1877 as “St. Luke’s FC”. It was one of the founding teams of the English Football League in 1888, which is the oldest football league in the world.
