Three former employees of the search giant Googles have joined hands to form a new collaborative alliance called xGoogler Blockchain Alliance (GBA). It was formed to bring together ex-Googlers and Googlers who are interested in getting involved in blockchain industry.
The three employees who started this group are Hitters Xu, Daniel Wang, and Andy Tian. Xu was a former Director of Ant Financial’s Blockchain Platform (Alibaba’s financial arm) and was part of Google’s Anti-Fraud Team. He is also the founder of Nebulas, a next-generation public blockchain, aiming for a continuously improving ecosystem. Daniel Wang was the Former Google Tech Lead who went ahead to found many tech startups, most of which is Loopering, a decentralized exchange and open protocol. Andy Tian is Former Strategic Partnership Development Manager at Google who introduced Android to China. He is a serial entrepreneur and a founder & CEO of Gifto, a decentralized universal gifting protocol.
TechCrunch had recently reported that blockchain is the second-fastest growing industry in today’s labor market, with 14 job openings for every one blockchain developer. The community was formed to address these demands for talent as they aim to serve as a collaborative space for inquiry, dialogue, and development regarding blockchain technology for Googlers. They also plan to incubate high-quality blockchain project. The community is currently active in San Francisco Bay Area, Beijing, and Shanghai.
It is always welcomed when employees from tech giants like Google have employees fleeing to the crypto space, as Googlers are one of the smartest and innovative people in the tech industry. However, GBA is open only for current or former Google employees. This sort of makes the group elitist and goes against the core theme of the crypto revolution – inclusiveness of the masses.
