XLM vs TRX Leaders Collide as Stellar’s McCaleb Calls Tron “Garbage” and Sun Says Stellar Isn’t Worthy Competition
Stellar’s Co-Founder and CTO, Jed McCaleb has openly called out Tron as being “garbage” during an interview with Yahoo Finance, reports Ethereum World News.
During the interview, McCaleb seems to have expressed his distaste for projects that raise tons of money during their ICOs with “zero technical merit”. He went on to say that majority of the projects that exist to date are bullshit, adding that he hopes to see changes in support in the near future.
As for how Tron came up, McCaleb shared the following:
“Things like Tron, it’s garbage. But people dump tons of money into in, these things that just do not technically work.”
Such words immediately got the attention of Tron’s CEO, Justin Sun, who has since responded to McCaleb’s claims via Twitter.
As seen in the tweet below, Sun does not even think Stellar to be their competitor, considering the project’s low transaction volume, lack of decentralization and the lack of support for decentralized apps (DApps).
We don't think @StellarLumens is our competitor at all since they have extremely low transaction volume, centralized&non-democratic system and 0 Dapps. #TRON will take their place within 2019 anyway. #TRX $TRX #XLM https://t.co/kPuTIwiI0r

Co-Founder of IAmDecentralized.org, Misha Lederman seems to have come across reports indicating McCaleb’s viewpoints as well, to which he compared Tron to Stellar.
His tweet reported Tron’s transactions as of Dec 31 as being 2,803,372 compared to Stellar’s 8,793 at the same time – concluding that “Numbers speak louder than garbage,” as seen below.

Those within the crypto community have since commented on Sun’s response to McCaleb as well. It seems like most of the support is for Sun and the Tron project:
Alex Cobb (@AlexCobb_) “Not a tron supporter. But TRX does beat Stellar by a long shot in terms of fundamentals, maybe Justin sun is a bit unprofessional at times, but he is not an outright fraud like Jed.”
Ryder G (@Rydesaurus) “I’m not sure what he’s referring to when he says it doesn’t work. I’ve used the #TRON Network everyday for six months. It works great.”
D e (@Deofaz) “Let’s just leave it at the fact that xlm [Stellar] has had over 4 years to build something, anything of “economic value” and Tron is up and running in just a year. With a lot in the pipeline.”
Clearly, McCaleb has since gotten a lot of backlash considering his very project has yet to set off the ground, at least in comparison to Tron.
