YIZOOT aims to launch the first tokenized video geo-platform. Find out what that means today in our review.
What Is YIZOOT?
YIZOOT, found online at YIZOOT.com, is a blockchain technology project that aims to change the world of advertising and video sharing.
YIZOOT is an existing company that offers free AR video apps for Android and iOS. The apps allow users to take videos, then add augmented features to their videos over their mobile devices. You can post your AR videos to your own personal channel and choose from hundreds of animated 2D and 3D models.
On April 14, YIZOOT announced that it was launching a tokenized video geo-platform. On that platform, brands, content creators, and viewers can interact with each other with no middlemen involved. Everyone benefits from a location-relevant, interactive user experience.
The “geo-platform” idea refers to the concept of owning virtual space in the YIZOOT world. That world corresponds to the real world – so you can purchase hexagonal tiles in Beijing, London, Paris, or wherever. Your hexagonal tile is a geo-channel from which you can share videos and earn advertising revenue.
A token sale for YIZOOT tokens is underway from April 30 to May 28, 2018.
How Does YIZOOT Work?
YIZOOT revolves around the idea of a “geo channel”. A geo channel is essentially a video channel linked to a discrete hexagonal area on YIZOOT World, which is a virtual landscape hosted on the Ethereum blockchain.
Each geo-channel can be branded and controlled by its owner. YIZOOT claims there will be no more subjective censorship on its platform.
Viewers, meanwhile, can browse videos through the geographically-oriented YIZOOT World interface. You explore a virtual map, for example, and discover new channels. Video creators can tether content to their own and/or targeted third party geo-channels. Geo-channel owners can maintain certain rules or quality standards.
YIZOOT also plans to revolutionize advertising by introducing features like intelligent ad matching and advertiser bidding. All players in the value chain, from the geo-channel owner to the video creator and viewer, will share in the proceeds of advertising spend.
The entire ecosystem revolves around the YIZOOT utility token (the YIZOOT). This is the only medium of exchange within the YIZOOT ecosystem. The company is creating a fixed supply of 200 million YIZOOT tokens.
You can spend YIZOOT tokens on hexagons of space within the YIZOOT ecosystem. Each hexagon corresponds to a location in the real world. One hexagon is equal to one brandable video geo-channel. Your geo-channel can host your own videos. Or, it can host videos uploaded by others.
As of April 2018, over 250,000+ geo-locations have already been reserved. You can reserve your hexagon anywhere in the world.
What Problems Does YIZOOT Seek To Solve?
Why do we need a platform like YIZOOT? What kinds of problems does YIZOOT seek to solve in today’s video sharing ecosystem? Here are some of the problems identified in the YIZOOT whitepaper:
Content owners can be subjectively cut off from advertisers and their revenue streams. We’ve seen this issue on YouTube over the past year. YouTube hosted controversial content bordering on hate speech, and controversial YouTube channels were earning enormous amounts of ad revenue. Advertisers began pulling their ads because they didn’t want to be associated with controversy and hate speech. YouTube was then forced to ban or de-monetize these channels. Censorship remains an issue on all major media platforms online today.
Middlemen charge high fees. Advertisers pay huge amounts of money to reach viewers, while viewers don’t get rewarded with anything. A disproportionate amount of value is funneled to middlemen.
There’s no control by content owners over which advertisers to associate with. Content creators can’t choose which advertisements appear before their videos. They rely on YouTube and similar platforms to play the best video.
Content creators struggle to prove ownership. Videos are plagiarized across the internet on a daily basis.
It’s difficult to police content from a centralized authority. A centralized company like YouTube only has so much manpower to devote to filtering content.
Fraud leads to massive losses across social media and advertising networks. Social media companies and advertising networks lose enormous amounts of money due to fraud.
High barriers to entry for small and medium brands. These brands can’t command the same advertising budget as a multinational conglomerate, making it increasingly difficult to compete with bigger companies.
The YIZOOT Token Sale
YIZOOT has announced a pre-token offer from April 30 to June 26, 2018.
During this pre-sale, tokens will be sold at a rate of 1 YIZOOT = $1 USD. Any unsold tokens will be burned after the token sale expires.
Once the token sale ends, you’ll be able to spend YIZOOT tokens on your hexagons. Hexagons will be on sale from June 27 to July 10. 10 tokens will buy you 1 x 300 square meter hexagon. Your proof of ownership is immutable on the Ethereum blockchain, and you can sell whenever you want.
A total of 253,000+ geo-channels have been reserved as of April 2018.
Who’s Behind YIZOOT?
YIZOOT’s team has been working together on various projects for over a decade. The company has worked for international clients like Samsung, Relx, Dermalogica, and Bank of Athens. Over the past few years, the core development team has expanded to push forward development of YIZOOT.
Key members of the YIZOOT team include Jon Jaaback, Craig Wessels, John Stokes, Mat Sher, Katerina Papaioannou, and Stelios Gkegkas.
Yizoot Token ICO Conclusion
YIZOOT sees itself as a revolutionary platform for video creators. “YIZOOT is to video creators what iTunes was to music creators,” explains the official website. With YIZOOT, you can own virtual land in the form of a “geo-channel”. That geo-channel hosts video content. You can post your own video content to your own geo-channel. Or, you can host video content from others.
Meanwhile, audiences get paid to watch videos, interact, and participate with the platform and brands have total transparency and a more engaged audience. Everybody earns, including viewers, creators, owners, and advertisers.
