Young Indian Girl Rewarded Ledger Crypto Wallet Full of Altcoins as Part of Philanthropic Effort

When Bitcoin’s price exploded early last year, a lot of investors were left with insane amounts of money in their hands. As a direct consequence of this, there was a sharp increase in the number of crypto-related charitable acts that started to take place all over the globe.

More On The Matter

As soon as news of the above mentioned charitable donation broke on Twitter, a number of people (including Changpeng Zhao) took to the social media platform to commend the good Samaritan (who goes by the name of CryptoPineapple) on his deed.

While no clear clues exist as to how the recipient for the above-stated donation was chosen, it is known that the girl who has received the wallet is from India (and is of primary school going age).

Additionally, according to a whole host of tweets available online, the donation comprises of crypto assets that amount to a total of 1 Bitcoin.

The distribution of the aforementioned altcoins is as follows

  • 20% BTC
  • 20% ETH
  • 10% TRX
  • 10% XLM

10% BTCABC

The rest of the amount is made up of other smaller digital tokens that are too many to list out here.

Also worth mentioning is the fact many people felt that the donation should have purely comprised of Bitcoin— since it is the currency that will most likely stick around for the longest period of time.

However, in response, CryptoPineapple was quoted as saying:

“I have selected projects which I feel have a long term lifespan. Let’s see how it goes.”

Lastly, on the subject of security for such a donation, CryptoPineapple noted that the Ledger wallet will remain in a locked safe until the girl turns 18.

Z Weighs In On The Matter

After news of this good dead reached Binance topman, Changpeng Zhao, he took to the internet to say that the educational opportunity that had arisen thanks to this donation “far outweighed the $3,600 (ish) donation itself”

Also, CZ is also known for doing his fair share of good deeds for the less fortunate. For example, the CEO recently chose to donate 100% of his exchange’s new coin listing fees to various non-profit organizations.

Final Take

Some of our regular readers may remember that during late 2017, there was a donor who gave out a whopping 5,057 BTC to 60 different charities. Recipients were varied and included organizations that worked in fields such as environmental conservation, human rights, and psychedelic drug therapy.
