Zap Lightning Network Wallet Launches New Desktop, iOS Alpha, PoS & Commerce Upgrades
Good news for the followers of Zap. The new Zap Desktop was just released to the general public at the same time that the Zap iOS alpha version has released its testflight. The company announced that all and more, like a Github repository with Zap tutorials and a list of video tutorials recently.
The New Zap Desktop
The new desktop app will be cross-platform and it will be compatible with Windows, Linux and Mac. This final version has a complete redesign and other features like autopilot configuration, remote node connection and BTCPay support.
Will do a video later today show casing Zap wallet.
Thanks to Zap, @BtcpayServer is not only for merchant: It is the most easy and user friendly way to get started on Lightning Network.

Another new feature is the new LND-0.4.2 (which stands for Lightning Network Daemon) has also been launched and set to testnet in this new version of the desktop app. According to the company, it is still in need of some feedback, some users should report any type of bug that they find while using it.
Zap will release its mainnet soon so gathering information is important to set everything right for the time of the launch. However, you can already support a remote node connection using the software.
Zap iOS Alpha Version
One of the important developments is the Zap iOS has finally entered Alpha. This version of the software is considerably less evolved than the desktop version and it runs only with the LND disabled because it is not stable yet but this is a huge milestone for the Zap project.
According to the Zap update, the people at Lightning Network are working hard to be able to help the company to create the best possible software. You will be able to connect to the Lightning Network on your iphone only by scanning a QR code instead of using the LND. You can define the rules for you own node and how it runs.
The company has been releasing tutorials on Github so people will know how to use the new piece of software and they have been asking for people to use it, as this is a very important part of having an Alpha software that has to be tested a lot before the company is actually able to move forward and to go to the next phase of the Zap iOS.
Other Zap News
Other important news are relevant to Zap and BTCPay and the relationship between the Zap PoS and the Zap Commerce. Most of the software that was developed so far by the company was focuses solely on the clients and how to improve their lives and the way that they can use Zap. However, now the company is also concerned with vendors.
Why? Because vendors are important if people really want to use Bitcoin as money. If no one accepts it, then the whole reason why Bitcoin exists is not really real, is it? This is why the company is now focusing in offering for its clients options for merchants and vendors.
The company is currently working with Nicolas Dorier and RockstarDev from BTCPay to create new Bitcoin merchant tools that will be easy to use and stable. They will also be 100% open source. One of this in the Zap PoS, which will be available for mobile and tablets soon and will use QR codes for payments.
Another important one is Zap Commerce, which will allow merchants to create and manage their stores, products and to view their balances using BTCPay plugins. They will be able to use Zap for that now.
A way to turn BTC into fiat currency as soon as it is received is also important and has been debated by the team. This way, the merchants could have more control over their BTC. The company is currently networking to make this happens. This way, they hope that they can find a way to convert BTC directly to fiat into the merchant’s accounts.
This is one the main ways that the merchants will be able to benefit from Bitcoin, the Lightning Network and Zap in the near future but there is still not a certain date for these updates.
The final announcement was that many of the users who wanted to accept BTC for transactions and turn into fiat were not interested in most of the properties of cryptos like anonymity so the company is developing ways for the user to have their money managed by Zap to be able to trade it quickly in exchange for centralizing a bit more the nodes and the transactions.
